This magnificent hope chest is made in the style of the hope chests of old. High quality tongue and groove joinery is used to seal the chest against moths and mice and the cedar lining on all six sides of the interior further protects your clothes, blankets or other valuables. Beautiful scrollwork adorns the apron and hand-carved moldings surround the top. The false cabinet doors on the front of the chest are not cheap mock-ups but are made in the same rail-and-stile construction in which real doors are made. Note that the drawers fronts are also false. The trim may be either antique brass or polished brass (antique shown) and an optional lock may be added as well. The chest in the picture is made from pine but the a special order may be placed for other woods including cherry, red oak, maple or mahogany.
